Alumni Network Committee
The Impact Lab Alumni Network Committee (the Alumni Commitee) connects the Impact Lab community to share guidance, knowledge and experience, and to collaboratively shape the future of the Impact Lab course and of social impact more broadly. Members of the Impact Lab Alumni Network Committee have the opportunity to make a difference in the community and gain valuable leadership experience.
TERM AND MANDATE
Impact Lab Alumni Network Committee members are selected through a nomination process every year and the positions are voluntary. Each Alumni Committee member is expected to dedicate approximately 8 hours of voluntary work a month for the benefit of the Impact Lab community. Alumni Committee members can be selected for 2 consecutive terms.

Who can join the Impact Lab Alumni Network Committee?
The alumni committee is open to all graduates of the Impact Lab course. Both recent and more experienced alumni are encouraged to apply for the various committee positions.
What are the benefits of joining?
You will gain valuable leadership experience, network with fellow alumni/students, have mentoring opportunities and stay plugged in to the Impact Lab community.
What is the application process?

Fill out the application form, submit your CV, and a personal statement specifying which role(s) you are interested in. The current Alumni Committee will shortlist up to 3 successful applicants for each role.

For roles with several candidates, the Alumni Committee will conduct interviews.
 - 
The mandate will begin in June 2025 once selections are made and extend through July 2026 (June - July being a transition period between previous and new board).
 
What events does the committee organize?
Events may include networking nights, guest speakers, workshops, social gatherings, mentorship programs, and more.

2025-2026 impact lab alumni network COMMITTEE

Sumyyah joined Impact Lab during her final year as a business development intern at GREEN Hospitality. With a strong interest in technology and sustainability, she led the CRM streamlining process, developing innovative solutions that improved operational fluency. Inspired by her supervisors' dedication to sustainable practices, she emerged with a renewed passion for driving social change through data analytics. A memorable moment was sharing a conversation over coffee with her mentor, whose support made her feel truly understood. Sumyyah is now committed to leveraging her positive experiences to create transformative events for future IL students.
Chair

Bibi Hajirah is a third-year Economics and Finance undergraduate who embraces diverse cultures and values uniqueness, resonating with her favorite quote from Cruella: "Being normal is the cruelest insult of all." During her internship at GREEN Hospitality, Bibi built meaningful connections with her teammates and supervisors. She found the experience to be one of collaboration and personal growth. Bibi is excited to bring this spirit of community engagement to the Impact Lab Alumni Network, crafting meaningful educational content that inspires others to take action.
Events & Community Coordinator

In his first year, Nice joined Impact Lab as an intern for the Foundation for Shared Impact (FSI). There, he collaborated with the alumni committee and gained firsthand insight into how it operates. Inspired by this experience, he became a committee member after completing the course, eager to contribute and create a lasting impact. Passionate about social entrepreneurship, he is committed to leveraging business as a force for positive change.
Secretary

Katrina is a Quantitative Finance major set to graduate in 2027. Passionate about social impact, she enjoys exploring how technology can drive positive change. Her journey at Impact Lab began with a placement at FSI, where she worked in community engagement. Inspired by this role, she continued exploring the social sector, later combining her FSI experience with prior work at a private equity firm to land a summer internship at Social Impact Partners (SIP), a venture philanthropy focused on social purpose. Now, she looks forward to further integrating her financial expertise with her passion for creating meaningful change.
Events & Community Coordinator

Sue is a debt syndicate professional at a leading global bank, specializing in structured finance with a focus on ESG-driven opportunities. She built her first connection with Impact Lab by working for the Green Hospitality research project, and she is a passionate advocate for aligning capital with impactful, sustainable initiatives.
Careers & Mentorship Coordinator

Abdul joined Impact Lab as a Software Development Intern at Weava Tools from January to May 2022. His favorite memory from that time was a brainstorming session with his supervisor, Marl, where they unexpectedly solved a tricky technical problem together. Currently working as an AI Developer, Abdul is passionate about technology and enjoys exploring robotics for air, land, and water. In his free time, he trains in Muay Thai or plays basketball. Abdul aspires to continue innovating in AI to create meaningful solutions.
Careers & Mentorship Coordinator

Louise began her journey with the Impact Lab community as a business development intern for GREEN Hospitality, where she assisted with event planning. A memorable moment was participating in a Biodiversity Collage workshop with her mentor, which ignited her passion for sustainability. She especially valued the welcoming environment and invaluable mentorship she received. Her time with GREEN Hospitality and the Impact Lab course proved deeply rewarding. Louise now looks forward to contributing her skills and enthusiasm to the community’s mission of driving positive change.
Communications Coordinator

Ines is an incoming second-year student in the HKU-UBC Sauder Dual Degree Programme, pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration and Commerce. Her interest in Business and passion for writing led her to become a Marketing and Communications Intern at GREEN Hospitality for Blogs and Newsletters. There, she fell in love with the process from drafting sustainability-related pieces to tracking engagement. A highlight was seeing people engage with her work, reinforcing her belief in the power of words to drive change. Ines also joined the IL Mentorship Programme, where she was paired with a mentor who provided invaluable career advice. She's now a Communications Coordinator for the Alumni Committee, working to ensure students get the most out of their experience.
